IF THEY BRING OUT THE KOOL AID.......

Don't Drink It !!
These were my husband's words to me last month as I got ready to head to Houston for the SSMT Celebration at Beth Moore's Church. If you are a "young reader", this is a reference to Jim Jones who poisoned his followers with cyanide laced Kool Aid in 1978.
Ernie thinks I am a Beth Moore Fanatic ! Apparently my new friend Sheri over at theleakingwindow.blogspot.com has a husband who thinks the same thing about her! Now Sheri and I BOTH LOVE BETH. She is funny, cute, energetic, passionate, and the real deal BUT the reason we love Beth( if I can speak for you Sheri) is she leads us closer to Jesus. Beth does not seek one iota of glory for herself and she makes that clear every time she speaks or leads a Bible Study. She is a great encourager of women and says that if God can use Beth Moore, He can use me and you. Ernie and Anthony are right about one thing...Sheri and I ARE Fanatics..... we are fanatical about God and His unspeakable gift to us in Jesus.
My response to my husband's warning????
I said "If Beth offers me a glass of Kool Aid, I am going to ask for the entire pitcher!!

I know what you mean about Beth. I don't want to be here on any level but her passion for Christ and his word is what draws me. Thorough her studies GOD has used her in my life on so many levels.
On thing that I remember from one of her teaching on Life Today was when she took a cup and said when we go to others or anything to fill us up we will end up empty well that so resonated with me. Its like my life message! Ok, I could preach now but I guess I will step off and go to bed.
Love you lots,
Laura

Actually, I think your husband has a point, in that I find women who follow Beth aren't much more discerning than those who followed Jones. Beth does indeed give herself lots of glory by claiming all sorts of direct revelations from God - she's a virtual prophet.

Ladies like her because she makes you feel good - you go after her personality. But have you really looked at what she teaches? Yes, she has a LOT of good stuff, but her twisting of Scripture often rivals a Jehovah's Witness - her hermeneutics are horrid!

There are much better, more solid women Bible teachers out there. Beth serves a lot of Kook Aid. I've demonstrated as much on my blog where I examine her teachings.

Dear blogger Glenn.. I have thought about what to do regarding your comments about Beth. Let me say this... I can not speak for Linda but I can speak for myself. I don't follow Beth but I have been so drawn to her passion for GOD and his word! Its about all GOD and he has used Beth in my life to have a closer relationship to him through his WORD. Now you may feel what you may feel but I felt that i had could respond. I don't feel that she doesn't twist the Scripture and if you don't like what she has to say then that is fine but there really is no need to say the things you did. I wonder though did you say these things so that you could get a response. Well you got a response out of me. GOD has used Beth in my life for a more devotion to him and his word! Not to her but to GOD alone! As Paul Harvery would say.. that is all I have to say about that.

I don't post just to get responses. I was directed to this blog by a friend who knows I have researched Beth Moore for a few years.

Having a passion for God is all well and good, but that doesn't make one qualified to be a teacher of God's word. Examine the evidence and you will see Beth indeed grossly misuses Scripture. Many apologetics ministries have examined Beth's teachings and have come to the same conclusions.

I comment hoping to lead people to more qualified teachers who don't claim to have direct revelation from God for their abuse of His Word.

One question I have: Doesn't it bother you that Beth claims direct revelation from God for a lot of her teachings?

I love your pictures from the SSMTC. I so wish we could have met when we were there!

It was on the pages of one of Beth Moore's Bible studies (that I did at home by myself) that I fell in love with Jesus. Never before had I done a study that I was in the WORD so much as hers. In my walk with the LORD, I recount that study as a real turning point in my life, a spiritual marker, of turning to HIM and away from other desires.

Blessings to you dear one.

What a great time! Loved your pictures and have benefited so much from memorizing the Word of God. That's right, the WORD OF GOD..what a weird guy you have commenting on your blog who never mentions the name of a better teacher, but wants to trash talk the awesome teacher you have. Bizarre to say the least.

It was great seeing you! Hope to meet up again soon!!
