As part of my job in our clinic I check patients' hearing. Sensory hearing is pretty easy to assess. You either pass the screening or fail it. If you fail the screening you need further evaluation by a specialist.
But today I want to talk about a different kind of hearing. I call it heart hearing and it is hearing from GOD. Just as a hearing aid can amplify sounds that our ears hear, spending time in God's Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other Christians can amplify sounds that our hearts hear.
On Tuesday I paraphrased part of Psalm 3 when writing about my friend Sheryl's procedure. Yesterday while I was working on my homework in Beth Moore's study of David entitled "A Heart Like His", Beth wrote about David who had" run from his throne practically hopeless" walking up the Mt. of Olives . She writes "....somewhere on top of that mountain, David got down on his knees and prayed. See his prayer for yourself. God had him write it down. It's Psalm 3."
I HEARD FROM GOD.
Today as I was driving to work, I turned off the radio and was praying aloud. I ended my prayer with these wonderful words of Charles Wesley "Amazing love! How can it be that thou my God shouldst die for me?"
I turned the radio back on and the first sound I heard was the Newsboys singing "Amazing love how can it be that thou my King should die for me?"
I HEARD FROM GOD.
God has never stopped speaking. I just have a better hearing aid these days.

Great post!! God isn't speaking any more than He always has but I am defintely hearing Him more clearly lately too.
Love to you,
~Sheryl
How awesome it is when we really take the time to listen for that Still Small Voice! And, you are right, God is always there and always listening!
Love ya much,
